1. What this document covers

1.1 These Purchase, Billing and Refund Terms govern paid subscriptions to InnieHub. They form part of the Terms of Service and should be read with clauses 17 and 18 of that document. Where this document gives more detail, this document governs; where the two conflict on a matter of principle, the Terms govern.

1.2 Nothing here reduces rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country you live in. Where a statement in this document is inconsistent with a mandatory consumer right in your country, the law wins and the statement does not apply to you. Sections 9 and 18 set out the main rights we expect to be relevant.

2. What paying gets you, and what is free either way

2.1 A paid subscription increases your InnieCare AI allowance. That is all it does. It buys no status, no visibility, no moderation power, no additional community access and no priority of any kind.

Exact current figures are shown in the application before you buy. They are approximate here because they are calculated from what an exchange costs us to run, and section 14.5 governs what happens if that changes.

2.2 What is free, on every tier, always:

  • the entire community, posts, comments, groups, events, forums, stories, direct messages, voice and video calls;
  • all wellbeing tools, mood check-ins, exposure plans, small wins, thought reframes, practice sessions, social battery;
  • InnieDate;
  • courses and the blog;
  • the InnieCare assistant itself, including after your allowance is used up, in a simpler non-AI mode;
  • crisis detection and crisis resources.

2.3 We want to be unambiguous about the last one. Safety is never behind payment. The crisis check runs on every message you send the assistant regardless of your tier, is never counted against any allowance, is never affected by a failed payment, a downgrade or a lapsed subscription, and is never affected by anything in section 2.5. Crisis helplines are inside the app, and in the iOS application they work with no network connection and without being signed in.

2.4 Community roles are not for sale. Innie, InniePlus and InnieMaster are earned through participation and cannot be bought, gifted or accelerated by paying. See clause 12 of the Terms. The word "tier" is used for both memberships and roles; they have nothing to do with each other.

2.5 One limit that applies to everybody at once, and you should know it exists.

Your allowance bounds what you can spend. It does not bound what everyone can spend together, so there is a monthly limit on what the Services will spend on AI model calls across all members. If that limit is reached, every account, including a paid one that has not used any of its own allowance that day, falls back to the simpler non-AI responder until the calendar month ends.

We are telling you rather than burying it, because it is the one circumstance in which a paid tier stops delivering the thing it is sold for, for reasons that have nothing to do with you. Three things bound it:

a) it applies to everyone at once, and never to one member or one group;
b) it is temporary by definition, the limit resets when the month does;
c) if it ever lasted a substantial part of your billing period, that is a paid feature not working, and section 10.3 entitles you to a refund.

A reduction dressed up as an emergency but left in place beyond the month is not this section. It is a reduction in the allowance, and section 14.5 governs it.

3. The two ways to buy

Which channel you used determines who holds your money and who decides a refund. This is the single most important thing in this document.

3.1 You can hold only one active subscription at a time, and we refuse the second one rather than warning you about it. If you already have a subscription on one channel, buying on the other is blocked before any money moves. There is no version of paying twice for the same thing that the buyer wanted, and the one you would be left unable to cancel through us is the App Store one.

4. Prices, currency and tax

4.1 Prices are displayed in the application before you buy, in your local currency where we support it.

4.2 Tax. Prices are shown inclusive of VAT, IVA, GST or equivalent consumption tax where we are required to charge it. Where a country requires tax to be included in the displayed price, the price you see is the price you pay. In jurisdictions where tax is added at checkout, the amount is shown before you confirm, and never for the first time on the card page.

4.3 For Apple purchases, Apple sets the tax treatment and the local price point.

4.4 Your bank or card issuer may charge a foreign transaction fee. That is between you and them, and we do not receive it.

5. Buying on the web

5.1 Choose a tier in your account settings. You are taken to a checkout page hosted by Stripe, where you enter your card details. Those details are entered on Stripe's page and never reach our servers. We never see, store or have access to your card number.

5.2 Before you confirm, you are shown: the tier, what it includes, the price including tax, the billing period, the date of the first renewal, the fact that it renews automatically until cancelled, and how to cancel. Nothing is pre-ticked, and your agreement to the recurring charge is asked for separately from anything else you have agreed to.

5.3 Your tier is active as soon as the payment is confirmed, which is normally within seconds, usually before the page has finished coming back to us.

5.3.1 And if the page does not come back, nothing is lost. The tier is granted on the payment provider's confirmation and not on your browser returning, so closing the tab, losing signal, or your phone locking mid-payment changes nothing: a completed payment grants the tier whether or not you ever see the confirmation screen. The reverse is also true, reaching the confirmation screen without a completed payment grants nothing, so nobody gets a tier they did not pay for.

5.3.2 If your tier has not changed after 15 minutes, something has gone wrong and we want to hear about it. Write to billing@inniehub.com with the receipt. That is a "tell us" threshold and not a waiting time, we are not asking you to sit for fifteen minutes, and you have not been charged for nothing.

5.4 What we receive from Stripe: a record that a subscription started, changed or ended, its status, and when the current period ends. We do not hold your card number, the last four digits, the card type or the expiry date. If you need those, they are in your own bank's records or in Stripe's receipt.

6. Buying in the iOS app

6.1 Choose a tier in the app. Apple presents its own purchase confirmation. Payment is taken by Apple from your Apple Account.

6.2 You are buying from Apple, not from us. Apple is the seller for in-app purchases. The Apple Media Services Terms of Use apply to the transaction alongside this document.

6.3 How we know it is you. Your Apple transaction is matched to your InnieHub account using a random identifier we generate. It carries no meaning outside our system and tells Apple nothing about who you are.

6.4 Your tier is granted when Apple confirms the purchase to us, which is normally immediate. If it has not changed, use "restore purchases" in the app first, that re-asks Apple and resolves almost every case. If that does not fix it within 15 minutes, write to billing@inniehub.com. As with 5.3.1, the purchase is not lost while this is being sorted out.

6.5 Apple's own rules govern how the subscription is presented, renewed, priced and refunded, and Apple may change them. Where Apple's rules and this document differ for an Apple purchase, Apple's rules apply.

7. Automatic renewal

7.1 Subscriptions renew automatically. Read this section before you buy.

  • Your subscription renews every month at the then-current price.
  • It renews until you cancel it, and there is no fixed end date.
  • Payment is taken on or shortly before each renewal date.
  • Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid being charged for the next period.

7.2 What we show you before you buy. The recurring nature of the charge, the amount, the frequency, the renewal date and the cancellation method, all clearly and conspicuously, immediately next to where you confirm, not in a linked document and not below the fold. Your agreement to the recurring charge is asked for and recorded separately from your acceptance of the Terms: agreeing to the rules of a community is not agreeing to a monthly charge.

7.3 We remind you before each renewal. Three days ahead, by email, with the amount, the date and a direct link to cancel.

We send it because the most common billing complaint anywhere is a renewal somebody meant to cancel and forgot, and a reminder costs us nothing compared with what that costs both of us. It is not a retention email and it does not try to talk you out of anything.

7.4 For Apple purchases, Apple sends its own renewal notifications and applies its own rules on advance notice of price changes.

8. Changing or cancelling

8.1 All of this is in your account settings, and it takes no more steps than subscribing did. No email, no phone call, no chat with anyone, and no retention offer you have to decline more than once.

We do it on our own screens rather than sending you to the payment provider's portal, deliberately: cancelling is the moment a subscriber is most likely to feel trapped, and bouncing somebody to a third-party domain to escape a charge is the wrong experience anywhere and a worse one here.

8.2 Cancelling. Takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, not immediately. You paid for this month and cutting your allowance off the second you click cancel would be taking something you are still owed.

8.3 And you can undo it. If you cancel and change your mind before the period ends, resume it from the same screen, no new purchase, no new price, nothing restarts. This exists because deciding to leave and deciding to stay are both allowed to happen in the same week.

8.4 Changing plan. Switch between Silver and Gold at any time.

  • Moving up takes effect immediately. The unused part of your current plan is credited against the new one, so you pay the difference and not a second full month.
  • Moving down lands as a credit against your next invoice.
  • Neither restarts your billing cycle. Your renewal date stays where it was.

8.5 Apple subscriptions, this one matters.

An Apple subscription can only be cancelled through your Apple Account settings.
Deleting the InnieHub app does not cancel it.
Deleting your InnieHub account does not cancel it.
Asking us does not cancel it, we have no power to.
You will keep being charged until you cancel it with Apple.

On your device: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → InnieHub → Cancel Subscription.

If you start deleting your InnieHub account while an Apple subscription is running, we stop you and say so, with a link straight to that setting. We cannot cancel it for you, and the only honest alternative would be letting you walk away believing it was handled.

8.6 What happens after you cancel. You keep your paid tier until the end of the period you paid for, then move to Free. Nothing else changes: your account, your posts, your wellbeing records, your InnieCare conversation history, your connections and your InnieDate profile are all untouched. You lose the larger AI allowance and nothing else.

8.7 Cancelling is not deleting. If you want your account removed as well, that is a separate action, see clause 19 of the Terms.

9. Your right to change your mind

Your rights here depend on where you live. We set out the ones we expect to apply. If your country gives you more, you get more.

9.1.1 As a consumer you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract for digital services, without giving a reason.

9.1.2 You lose that right only if you expressly request that we begin providing the service immediately, and you acknowledge that by doing so you will lose your right of withdrawal. We ask for that request and that acknowledgement at checkout, as two separate confirmations, neither pre-ticked, because "start now" and "I give up my 14 days" are two different statements, and merging them is how a waiver stops being valid. If we did not ask you, you keep the full 14 days.

9.1.2.1 We ask everybody, wherever you live. We cannot reliably tell where you are at the moment that decision has to be made, and being asked costs you two ticks while not being asked, if you turn out to be covered, would mean the money was never ours to keep. Your answer is recorded against the purchase, so a refund request months later is answered from the record rather than from an argument.

9.1.3 If you did give that acknowledgement and you withdraw anyway within 14 days, you may be required to pay for the proportion of the period already supplied. For a monthly subscription that is a pro-rata amount.

9.1.4 To withdraw, write to billing@inniehub.com, or use the model withdrawal form at /withdrawal-form. Any clear statement works, you do not have to use the form.

9.1.5 We refund within 14 days of being informed, using the same payment method you used, at no cost to you.

9.1.6 For Apple purchases, Apple's process governs. See section 11.

9.2 Brazil

9.2.1 Under Article 49 of the Consumer Defence Code, you may withdraw from a purchase made outside a commercial establishment, which includes an online purchase, within 7 days, and receive an immediate and full refund of everything you paid, monetarily adjusted.

9.2.2 This right is not waivable, and unlike the European position in 9.1.2 it is not lost because the service started immediately. If you are in Brazil and you withdraw within 7 days, you get the full amount back.

9.3 Mexico

9.3.1 Consumer protection law gives you rights to revoke certain distance contracts and to accurate pre-contractual information.

9.4 United States and elsewhere

9.4.1 There is no general statutory cooling-off period for online digital subscriptions in the United States. Your rights are those in section 10, plus any your state provides.

10. Refunds, web purchases

These are the purchases we control. What follows is in addition to the statutory rights in sections 9 and 18, which we do not limit.

10.1 Your first payment, for any reason. If you subscribed and it was not what you expected, write to billing@inniehub.com within 14 days of your first payment and we refund it in full, without asking you to justify it. Once per account.

10.2 A renewal you meant to cancel. We refund the most recent renewal, on request, where you ask within 7 days of the charge and you have not used the AI allowance materially since it renewed.

This is the most common billing complaint there is and we would rather resolve it than argue about it. The reminder in section 7.3 exists so that it happens less often.

10.3 Always refunded, in full, without argument, where:

  • we charged you in error, or charged you twice;
  • the service was materially unavailable for a substantial part of the period, which includes the limit in section 2.5 if it ever lasted that long;
  • a paid feature did not work and we could not fix it;
  • someone used your payment method without your authorisation and you tell us promptly;
  • you were terminated for a reason we later reverse on appeal, see section 15.

10.4 How to ask. Email billing@inniehub.com from the address on your account, with the date of the charge. You do not need to explain why unless you are asking under 10.2.

10.5 How long we take. We respond within 2 business days and, where we agree, issue the refund to the original payment method the same day. Your bank may take several days to show it, that part is not us.

10.6 If we say no, we tell you why, and you can appeal to appeals@inniehub.com. If you are an EU or UK consumer, the routes in section 18 and in clause 24 of the Terms are also open, and using ours first closes none of them.

10.7 What a refund does. Your tier returns to Free at the point of refund. Your account and everything in it are unaffected.

10.8 A note on how this is done. Refunds are issued by a person, not by an automated system. That is why the numbers in this section are ones we can meet rather than ones that sound better, and why 10.1 and 10.3 are deliberately unconditional, a policy that is honoured every time is worth more than a generous one that is not.

11. Refunds; Apple purchases

11.1 We cannot grant, refuse, process or reverse a refund for an in-app purchase. Only Apple can. This is not a policy we chose; we have no access to the transaction.

11.2 How to request one from Apple:

  • go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple Account; or
  • on your device: Settings → your name → Media & Purchases → View Account → Purchase History → the purchase → Report a Problem.

11.3 Apple decides according to its own criteria and timescales. If Apple grants the refund, your paid tier ends. If Apple refuses, we cannot override it.

11.4 Please do not ask us first. We will only be able to point you back to Apple, and that costs you days. If Apple has refused and you believe the refusal turns on a fact we can verify, that the service was unavailable, that we terminated the account, that a feature did not work, write to billing@inniehub.com and we will give you a written statement of that fact to support your request. That is the extent of what we can do, and we will do it willingly.

11.5 Your statutory rights are not affected by the fact that you bought through Apple. Where your local law gives you a remedy against a seller, Apple is the seller for that transaction.

12. Tiers we grant by hand

12.1 We can grant a paid tier to an account manually, for testing, for support reasons, for a member in difficulty, or as goodwill after something went wrong.

12.2 A manually granted tier is a gift. No money has been paid, nothing renews, nothing is charged, and there is nothing to refund.

12.3 It has no end date. It does not expire on a timer and it does not convert into a paid subscription, you are never charged at the end of it, because there is no end of it. We can withdraw it, and if we do we will tell you.

12.4 A payment provider can never take it away. Our system records which route granted a tier, and an automated message from a payment provider can only ever remove an entitlement that the same provider granted. A lapsed card cannot take away something we gave you, and neither can a cancellation event arriving months later for a subscription you once had.

13. If a payment fails

13.1 If a renewal payment fails, we retry it over a short period and email you. Update your card in account settings.

13.2 If it keeps failing, your tier returns to Free.

13.3 A downgrade affects one thing: your AI allowance. Your account, posts, connections, wellbeing records, InnieCare conversation history and InnieDate profile are untouched. Crisis support is unaffected. Nothing you wrote is deleted, hidden or locked because a payment failed.

13.4 Resubscribe at any time. There is no penalty and no reinstatement fee.

13.5 For Apple subscriptions, Apple manages billing retries under its own rules.

14. Price and allowance changes

14.1 We may change prices. We will tell you by email and in the application at least 30 days before a change affects you.

14.2 The notice states the current price, the new price, the date it takes effect, and how to cancel before then.

14.3 A price increase never applies to a period you have already paid for.

14.4 If you do not want to pay the new price, cancel before it takes effect. You keep what you paid for until that period ends.

14.5 A material reduction in the AI allowance is treated as a price change. Same 30 days' notice, same right to cancel on being told, and a pro-rata refund if you cancel for that reason.

The allowance is most of what a paid tier buys. Cutting it materially is a price rise expressed in the other currency, and calling it an operational adjustment would not make it one. Raising an allowance needs none of this.

14.5.1 The one exception is the platform limit in section 2.5, and only while it is genuinely both of the things that section says it is: applying to everybody at once, and lasting no longer than the calendar month. A reduction that applies to some members, or that survives the month, is not covered by this exception and 14.5 governs it.

14.6 Apple applies its own consent and notice rules for price increases on its channel, and in some cases will cancel a subscription rather than raise the price without your response.

15. If your account is suspended or terminated

15.1 Temporary suspension. Your subscription continues and continues to be charged, because the suspension is temporary and your access returns. If it lasts more than 7 days, we credit the days lost.

15.2 Permanent termination for breach. Your subscription is cancelled so that you are not charged again, and we refund the unused portion of the current period, pro-rata to the day.

Why, since the other view is arguable. The strict position is that a member who broke the rules forfeits the remainder. We did not take it. A subscription here buys an AI allowance and nothing else, so keeping the money for an allowance we are refusing to supply is keeping money for nothing, which is difficult to defend to a consumer authority in any of our four markets. And the amounts are small where the disputes are not.

15.3 A termination reversed on appeal. We restore the account and the subscription and credit the time lost. If you had already been refunded and want the subscription back, resubscribe and we credit the difference.

15.4 Terminated under the age gate, clause 4.4 of the Terms, a declared age under 18. Refunded in full. A person who cannot lawfully hold the account cannot lawfully be charged for it, whether or not the date was a mistake.

15.5 Apple purchases. In every case above, the refund is Apple's decision under section 11. We will confirm to Apple in writing that we terminated the account and did not supply the remainder of the period, which is the most useful thing we can give you.

15.6 If you delete your own account, see section 8.7 and clause 19 of the Terms. Cancel first, and cancel with Apple if that is your channel.

16. If the service changes or closes

16.1 If we materially reduce a paid feature, section 14.5 applies.

16.2 If we discontinue InnieHub entirely, we will give reasonable notice, stop taking payments immediately, allow you to export your data, and refund the unused portion of any subscription paid to us directly. Apple purchases remain subject to section 11, with the same written confirmation as 15.5.

16.3 If the operation of InnieHub transfers to another entity, including a transfer from T&T to another entity in the same group, your subscription transfers with it on the same terms, and we will tell you before it happens. See clause 26 of the Terms.

17. Chargebacks

17.1 If you believe a charge is wrong, please contact us before contacting your bank. Most billing problems are resolved in a day, and section 10.3 already commits us to refunding errors in full without argument.

17.2 A chargeback raised without contacting us first costs us a fee and can result in the tier being removed while the dispute runs. We will still deal with you courteously and will still look at the underlying complaint.

17.3 We do not terminate accounts for raising a chargeback, and we do not treat a disputed charge as a breach of the Terms. We may require a genuinely owed balance to be settled before a new subscription starts.

17.4 Repeated chargebacks on payments we can show were authorised and supplied may lead us to decline further subscriptions from that account.

18. If something is wrong with what you paid for

18.1 Beyond our refund policy, you have statutory rights where a digital service is faulty, not as described, or not of satisfactory quality.

18.1.1 Some of what follows does not apply to anyone today, and is here on purpose. The Services are not offered in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, so 18.2, 18.3 and 18.4 currently describe rights nobody using InnieHub holds. We are leaving them written rather than deleting them: when we open those territories the commitment is already made, in the same words, rather than drafted afresh at the moment it starts to cost us something.

18.2 European Union. Under Directive (EU) 2019/770 on digital content and services, we must supply the service in conformity with the contract. If we do not, you are entitled to have it brought into conformity, or to a proportionate price reduction or termination of the contract where that is not possible or not done within a reasonable time.

18.3 United Kingdom. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. Where it is not, you may be entitled to repair, replacement, a price reduction or a refund.

18.4 Spain. The consolidated Consumer and User Protection Act gives you equivalent conformity rights.

18.5 Brazil. The Consumer Defence Code gives you rights in respect of defective services, including re-performance, a proportionate price reduction, or a refund with monetary adjustment.

18.6 Mexico. Consumer protection law gives you the right to accurate information and to remedies where the service is not as offered.

18.7 United States. Your rights vary by state and are not reduced by this document.

18.8 How to use these rights. Write to billing@inniehub.com and describe what is wrong. You do not need to name a statute. We will tell you what we will do and by when.

19. Trials and promotional offers

19.1 We do not offer free trials or promotional pricing, and the checkout does not accept promotional codes.

19.2 If we ever do, everything below applies and will be stated again at the point of offer.

19.3 A free trial that converts into a paid subscription will say so, prominently, before you start it: what happens at the end, when, at what price, and how to cancel before being charged. We will remind you before it converts, on the same basis as section 7.3.

19.4 Promotional prices apply for the stated period and then move to the standard price, with notice under section 14.

19.5 One promotional offer per account, and promotional offers cannot be combined.

20. Records and receipts

20.1 A receipt is emailed for every payment.

20.2 Your payment history for web purchases is in your account settings.

20.3 Apple purchase history is in your Apple Account, not with us. We can see that a subscription is active; we cannot see your Apple receipts.

20.4 We keep payment and tax records for the period stated in the Privacy Policy, section 16.3, because we are legally required to. This survives deletion of your account, and it is one of the few things that does.
